Is that a bird? A plane? No! It's Mass Effect 3!

Bioware is throwing it out of the park with their amazing marketing for Mass Effect 3. From the dramalicious cinematic trailer to the very expensive looking live-action TV spot, they're making sure everyone knows ME3 is going to be VERY INTENSE.
But the purpose of this article is to fill you in with a really creative strategy that some of you may or may not have heard of: sending copies to space with weather ballons.
In Bioware's words: "To celebrate Commander Shepard’s war to take Earth back, Mass Effect 3 will be the first console game launched into Earth's upper atmosphere on a historic voyage. And you have a chance to take home a piece of that history(...) Track the packages on their flights and be the first to arrive at the landing zone to win an early copy of Mass Effect that has survived space travel".
Wanna know what happened to all copies?

Six days ago, the first copy of the Mass Effect 3: Space Edition was launched. As of today, most copies have been recovered and I'm not jealous of those who actually lived in one of the launch cities. I'm not...
The lucky cities were San Francisco, Las Vegas, New York, London and Berlin. Unfortunately, the San Francisco copies landed on trees over 100 feet tall and were deemed unreachable. Bioware asked fans not to get too crazy and climb the trees, and no, you can't cut them down either. If you do, at least give me the hoodie included in the package for giving you the idea. For now, everyone can stare at said trees and be super sad.
On a weird note, a package in London was recovered after landing on a farm. Since farms are private property, Bioware had to retrieve the package and got attacked by cows. I'm sure if I was one of those cows, I would have fought for my copy as well.

Mass Effect 3 comes out next tuesday and I couldn't be happier for not having class that day :)
