Formula for success!

 Hey, it worked...

In a world where everything has been said and done, where media is transforming and the entertainment industries need to come up with new ideas to survive, it's hard for a newcomer to succeed. When it comes to videogames, it's pretty much the same.
But there are some people and companies who have beat the odds and made it to the top, and one of the is Rocksteady Studios.

Rocksteady are widely known for their bestselling and critically acclaimed videogame Batman: Arkham Asylum, released in 2009. Also for it's bestselling and critically acclaimed sequel Batman: Arkham City. And that's pretty much it. How can an unknown indie game company become one of the most famous game studios, practically onvernight?

It has absolutely nothing to do with THESE...

Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker funded Rockstead Studios in 2004, after leaving Argonaut Games that same year. They hired some of their people and in 2006 made their debut with Urban Chaos: Riot Response. The game had good reviews and was released by Eidos, the publisher behind big franchises like Tomb Raider, Hitman and Deus Ex.

A bit more to do with these, though.

Not very long after, they were making Batman: Arkham Asylum for Eidos too, and the rest is history. There is no formula for success, it works different for everybody. For Rocksteady, being an indie company but getting a deal with a big publisher worked, and now their games are award winners (and insanely awesome); plus, Warner bought the studio in 2010, which means a lot of DC Comics superhero games to come.

Let's hope this game is better than the movie.

In their own words, Rocksteady Studios are: "an energetic, creative company formed by a core team of senior industry professionals who have known and worked with each other for many years. This gives us an ideal balance of drive, talent, proven methods, experience and cutting edge technology.
We have strong company values and a clear strategy for the future", and now I just sit and wait for their energetic and creative team to make Batman 3 (Superman would be nice, too).
